Saskatoon Pups Wrestling Club
The Pups program dates back to 1982 when Gord Garvie, head coach of the Huskies program, convinced his father, Clarence Garvie to head up the program that would act as building blocks for the future Huskie program. Clarence became the first President of the Saskatoon Wrestling Pups. Gord recruited Mark Loehndorf to act as the first coach of the Pups program.
Garvie’s initiative back then started with just a few elementary school kids who trained in the same room (the Saskatoon Field House) as the college Huskies. Over the years many a young champion evolved from the program. Names that come to mind are: Jamie Wright, Jeff Smithwick, Travis Drew, Mickey and Danny Jutras, Dan Banzet, Colin Wist, Jeff Adamson, Daniel and Peter Olver, Josh Bodnarchuk, and so many more. The Pups have much to offer and hope that your child (or children) will become an avid Pups wrestler today.
2024 Inaugural Natasha Fox Memorial Elementary School Tournament
Natasha Fox was a cornerstone of the wrestling community in Saskatoon, as well as a loving wife, mother, daughter, friend, and teacher. People from all areas of Natasha’s life will agree that her passions were teaching and wrestling, which makes it fitting that she combined both. After her first year of teaching, she decided to organize an elementary school tournament with other Huskie Wrestling Alumni’s classes during the school day. She continued to run this tournament every year until her sudden passing in 2023. This year, 2024, the Saskatoon wrestling community has decided to keep up her tradition. We hope to continue to keep her spirit alive in the Saskatoon community by bringing wrestling to the elementary schools and giving them space to wrestle.
Down To Wrestle…
Inside the green-padded room at Education Gym on the U of S campus, two eight-year-old boys with Down syndrome rushed in — wide grins matched only by Donovan Neudorf’s — and tackled the third-year Huskie to the ground. Joseph (Joe) Reimer and John (Jac) Cashin have been a part of Team Take Down — a Huskies Athletics wrestling squad for children with Down syndrome.
Many thanks to MICHELLE BERG of the Saskatoon StarPhoenix and JOHANN REIMER for the great pictures of our future wrestling stars.
Huskies wrestling head coach Dan Olver is dog piled by Team Take Down’s Aidan Pike, Eli Heisler and Jac Cashin.

Winter Registration is OPEN for programs running January – March 2025
